I will be 26 in May. I grew up with four brothers (I’m the only girl) and am somewhat of a tom boy because of it. Not totally, because I’m not really into sports and physical activity, and I like to wear dresses. But I hate wearing makeup, have never had a crush on a celebrity, and refuse to carry a purse. I'm all girl when it comes to loving chocolate though! I used to think I was a social butterfly, but as I’ve gotten older (and despite my eternal optimist brother who would say otherwise) I have realize that I’m really not. Of course I’m not shy, persay. I have not trouble meeting new people, but if I’m riding in an elevator with a stranger, more often than not I can’t really think of anything good to say so I’d rather just stay quiet. I’m kind of on passive side, like my father. I would much rather follow someone else’s lead, than be in charge, myself, although I can be a leader if I need to. I am very creative. I love working on projects where I’m creating something. Since I’ve been married that has centered around video production and pictures. But I like artsey and literary projects as well. When I am creating something I get very detailed orientated, and wont settle until things are prefect. However, in most of life I’m relatively laid back. Not a whole lot bothers me and I really don’t spend a lot of time worrying. I’m very frugal. My favorite clothing store is Value Village and I hate spending more than $5 on a shirt.
Nathan (also 26) is a troublemaker. He was dubbed “master of disaster” when he was younger and is constantly living up to the title. It's all in fun though. He is one of the sweetest most considerate people I have ever known. The kind of child you would like to have. The way he talks to his parents is amazing, always including them and acknowledging them in the good decisions he and thanking them for rasing him. He is a great husband too. he goes out of his way for me a lot more than I do for him (I should be better about that). He is in no way a girly man though. Even though he's not into sports, like my brothers, he is a typical guy. Case and point; his most valued possession would have to be his two swords that are hanging in our bedroom! But deep down he is a computer nerd, always tinkering in the newest technological advances. He is also very ambitious and hard working, which makes him a great provider. He loves his job, and really looks forward to going back to work after weekends!
We started our married life in low income housing in Tigard, Or. We didn't even have a couch, so we would just lay on an old futon matress on the floor of the livingroom/office. It was fun though. Nathan moved up in position at his work quickly and went from a temp. position to running the IT department. And now, after 3 years there, the boss has told him that when she retires she wants to sell him the buisness! That's my amazing husband! We are now in a position finacially that I would not have imagined for myself as young as I am. We moved from the cheap apartment to a nicer one, and then a year later, to a townhouse in Molalla! I feel extremely blessed.
We are very active in our extended families. Both set of parents live about a h
alf hour or so away. I like the distance and having our own identies, but I like being close as well. I especially like that our kids will know their grandparents and will see them on a regular basis. Although Nathan's family has more drama in a year then mine has for the past ten, it is still fun to have them all near. On my side of the family, I am he only child to live so close to our parents, so I don't see my siblings too often, but we're still close, epecially my brother Russell and I.
We got our dog, Toby in the summer of 2006. I wanted to have practice taking care of something before having children. He is an Austrialian shephard and a beautiful dog! He is also extremely hyper and needy. If I don't take him out every day (preferably running at tops speeds) he drives me crazy with his unending engery! It's okay though, that makes sure I get some exercise everyday. He's a sweet dog. He's very social, with people and other dogs. His favorite thing to do is to chase/bark at cats, and we have a lot of stray ones wandering around our neighborhood, so he has a constant supply!
Jared We were fortunate, when we decided to start having children, we had no trouble getting pregnant. And although I can't say pregnacy was the most comfortable thing in the world, it went smoothly and Jared was born healthy in July 2007. We were both hoping for a boy and I really wanted a boy with blue eyes like Nathan's. We got both wishes!
Jared is a pretty easy baby. He's pretty easy to make happy. He is very curious. He loves people and new things. His favorite thing to do is probably going to a store, because there are so many things to look at!
That curious trait is also the hardest thing on me though, because he hates to sleep, probably for fear of missing out on something! Lately he's been much better at taking naps. But he still doesn't sleep though the night! We're working on it though. As far as development goes, he's probably best at the motor skills. He showed interest in standing up when he was still two months old! Now that he's nine months old he pulls himself up to standing for real, and isn't too far away from doing it completely on his own! Along with that he crawls and climbs all over things, and has just discovered the stairs! uh oh! He's still brestfeeding some, though he loves solid foods, and he has started to do some talking (la-las and ba-bas). We love him to pieces!
As far as chuch goes, we like our new ward. They are friendly people. Nathan is the ward mission leader so we have the full-time missionaries over every Saturday for breakfast and to give their progress reports for the week. I am the activities coordinator, and just got finished with the ward Cinco de Mayo party! We are firmly rooted in our faith.
I feel that I have been extremely blessed to be alive and to have all the things that I have. I know there are many people that are not so fortunately, and I hope that I can always appreciate what I've been given. I love my life!
